Phuturehype started in 2003, in the UK. The original aim of Phuturehype was to promote the underground music scene by holding various events. It was felt, however, that there were already a majority of websites performing this task. So it was decided to concetrate on Female MC's, as it was felt that they were very underrepresented. The first female mc/rapping competition was held in 2004.
